How to make a product video from a GLB file
If you have a GLB of your product, you already have everything a video needs: the exact shape, materials, and textures. This guide turns that file into a short, studio-lit product video you can post or put on a product page. It takes about five minutes and runs in your browser.
What you need
- A
.glbfile, or a.gltfwith its.binand texture files. - A current Chrome, Edge, or Safari.
- Optional: a music track (MP3, M4A, WAV, OGG, or FLAC) you have the rights to use.
Most 3D tools export GLB directly. In Blender, use File → Export → glTF 2.0 and choose the binary
.glb format. Shopify and other AR product views usually store a GLB you can download.
1. Load your model
Open the Shotona editor and drag your GLB onto the preview. For a multi-file glTF, drop the whole folder or select all its files together. Shotona centers and frames the model automatically, so it doesn't matter what units or scale it was exported in.
2. Pick a style and an edit
A style sets the overall look: Dark Reveal for dramatic low-key light, Bright Studio for a clean commercial feel, Moody Macro for tight, shallow-focus detail shots, or Classic. An edit sets the structure of the video. Reveal builds up to the full product, Proof shows off a detail, and Hero holds on the product's best side.
To feature a specific detail, such as a logo, a button, or a stitch line, click Mark detail and then click that spot on the product. The close-up shots will frame it.
3. Adjust lighting and backdrop
Every style comes with its own lights, but you can swap the backdrop (Warm Plaster, Gallery White, Charcoal, Sage, Umber, Black Velvet) or type your brand colors into the palette. The backdrop is a seamless curved cyclorama, so no camera angle ever sees an edge.
4. Add captions, an end card, and music
In the Text panel, add up to three short captions per shot and an end card with your product name and a second line for a price or offer. Shotona places the text in the open space next to the product. In the Music panel, add a track, choose where it starts, and set the volume. It fades out at the end automatically.
5. Export the MP4
In Output, pick an aspect ratio and click Export MP4. You get a 1080p H.264 video with the music mixed in. To post everywhere, use Export all formats to get 16:9, 9:16, and 1:1 in one zip. Each one is framed for its own shape rather than cropped from the others.
Tips for a better result
- Keep the video between 6 and 15 seconds. Short loops get watched to the end and replayed.
- Use one idea per caption, and keep each under about six words.
- Save the settings as a recipe so every product in your catalog gets the same look.
- If your model has animations, such as an opening lid, pick the clip and it plays in the video.
Try it with your own model. It's free, and your file stays on your computer.
